Pentair Clean & Clear Plus 420

The Pentair Clean & Clear Plus 420 (CCP420) uses four 105 square foot cartridges: Unicel C-7471, Pleatco PCC105, or Filbur FC-1977.

The Clean & Clear Plus 420 (CCP420) is the second-largest filter in the Pentair Clean & Clear Plus line. It uses four cartridges, each 105 square feet, for 420 square feet total. The cartridge is 26 1/16 inches long, notably taller than the 320's 20 inches, but the same 7 inch diameter and 3 inch openings. A housing reading Clean & Clear Plus 420 or CCP420 takes this cartridge.

How to verify this is the right cartridge

Read the housing label first. A tank marked Clean & Clear Plus 420, CCP420, or Pentair 160301 uses this cartridge. On the cartridge itself, the end cap will show C-7471, PCC105, FC-1977, or the Pentair numbers 178584 or R173576.

Measuring, the CCP420 cartridge is 26 1/16 inches long and 7 inches across, with 3 inch openings at both ends. Length is the deciding dimension. At 26 inches it sits between the 320 (20 in) and the 520 (32 in), and all three share the 7 inch diameter, so the length is what tells them apart.

The common error across this family is size confusion. The Clean & Clear Plus cartridges all look alike at a glance and share a diameter, but they are not interchangeable across sizes. A 420 cartridge will not fit a 320 or 520 housing. Confirm by the housing model or the cartridge length before ordering.
