The Filbur FC-1977 is a replacement pool filter cartridge for the Pentair Clean & Clear Plus 420 filter system.

FC-1977 is Filbur's catalog number for the Clean & Clear Plus 420 cartridge. Filbur numbers turn up on distributor listings and older invoices, which is where most people first meet FC-1977 without knowing it is the same part as the Unicel C-7471 and Pleatco PCC105. It is the 420-size cartridge: 26 1/16 inches long, 105 square feet.

How to verify this is the right cartridge

Filbur prints FC-1977 on the end cap. If your cartridge shows that number, this is a direct replacement, as is any cross-referenced equivalent.

Filbur numbers often appear on paperwork with no dimensions attached. If you are matching from an invoice rather than the cartridge, verify against the physical part: 26 1/16 inches long, 7 inches in outer diameter, 3 inch openings at both ends.

Keep the size straight within the family. The Clean & Clear Plus cartridges are all 7 inches across but differ in length. FC-1977 is the 420 size and will not fit a 320 or 520. Confirm by housing model or length.
