The Pentair Clean & Clear Plus family

The Pentair Clean & Clear Plus line runs from the 240 to the 520. Each uses four cartridges; the size determines the length and filtration area.

The Pentair Clean & Clear Plus line is a family of cartridge pool filters that share a design and differ mainly in size. All use four cartridges of 7 inch diameter with 3 inch openings. What changes across the line is the cartridge length and filtration area, which sets the total capacity. This guide covers the whole family so you can identify which one you have and what cartridge it takes.

Every size takes four cartridges. The number in the model name is the total filtration area, so a 320 is four 80 square foot cartridges, a 520 is four 130 square foot cartridges, and so on.

How to tell which one you have

Read the housing model first. The tank carries a label reading Clean & Clear Plus followed by the size number. That is the most reliable identifier.

If you are going by the cartridge, measure the length. Four of the five sizes are distinguished by length alone: 14 inches is the 240, 26 is the 420, 32 is the 520. The exception is the 320 and 360, which are both 20 1/16 inches long. Those two cannot be told apart by measuring, because they are the same size cartridge with different media density (80 versus 90 square feet). For those two, read the part number on the cap or the housing model.
