How to verify this is the right cartridge
178580 is an original equipment number, so if it appears on your filter label or an old service record, the cartridge for that system is this one. On the physical part, a Pentair or Pac Fab cartridge of this type carries 178580 or R173573 molded into the end cap.
If the label is gone, measure. The cartridge is 20 1/16 inches long and 7 inches across, with a 3 inch opening at each end. Those three dimensions confirm it regardless of which number is still legible.
