Filbur FC-1976
The Filbur FC-1976 is a replacement pool filter cartridge for the Pentair Clean & Clear Plus 320 filter system.
FC-1976 is Filbur's catalog number for the CCP320 cartridge. Filbur numbers turn up a lot in distributor listings and older invoices, which is where most people first encounter FC-1976 without knowing it is the same part as the Unicel C-7470 and Pleatco PCC80. How to verify this is the right cartridge
Filbur prints FC-1976 on the end cap. If your cartridge shows that number, this is a direct replacement, as is any of its cross-referenced equivalents from Unicel, Pleatco, or Pentair.
Where Filbur trips people up is that the FC number is often the only identifier on a distributor invoice, with no dimensions attached. If you are matching from paperwork rather than the cartridge itself, verify against the physical part: 20 1/16 inches long, 7 inches in outer diameter, 3 inch openings at both ends. If the cartridge in hand matches those, FC-1976 is correct for it.
As with any of these cartridges, keep the outer diameter and the opening diameter straight. Seven inches is the pleat-to-pleat width. Three inches is the center hole. They are easy to swap when reading a spec line quickly.
How many cartridges does my filter take
The Clean & Clear Plus 320 holds four cartridges in a single housing. A full replacement is all four, which is why the FC-1976 is typically ordered as a set rather than one at a time.
Putting one new cartridge in with three worn ones spreads the flow unevenly and wears the new one down faster, so the four are best changed together.
